Context of Ezekiel 3:25
23So I got up and went out to the plain; and behold, the glory and brilliance of the Lord was standing there, like the glory I had seen by the River Chebar, and I fell face downward. 24Then the Spirit entered me and made me stand on my feet; He spoke and said to me, “Go, shut yourself up in your house. As for you, son of man, they will put ropes on you and bind you with them so that you cannot go out among them. 26And I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you cannot talk and you cannot be a man who rebukes the people, for they are a rebellious house. 27But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth and you will say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ He who hears, let him hear; and he who refuses [to hear], let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 22-27Verses 22-27 Let us own ourselves for ever indebted to the mediation of Christ, for the blessed intercourse between God and man; and a true believer will say, I am never less alone than when thus alone. When the Lord opened Ezekiel's mouth, he was to deliver his message boldly, to place life and death, the blessing and the curse, before the people, and leave them to their choice.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 24-25Ezekiel was like a prisoner of God. He was shut inside his house and tied with ropes. It is not clear whether these ropes were real. Some think the other exiles tied him because they were hostile toward him. Others think this is a strong picture that shows their opposition and how his movements were restricted among them. His captivity was complete. God also limited his speech (Ezekiel 3:26–27). This unusual situation was meant to be a sign to the people.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 2525. put bands upon thee--not literally, but spiritually, the binding, depressing influence which their rebellious conduct would exert on his spirit. Their perversity, like bands, would repress his freedom in preaching; as in 2Co 6:12, Paul calls himself "straitened" because his teaching did not find easy access to them. Or else, it is said to console the prophet for being shut up; if thou wert now at once to announce God's message, they would rush on thee…Read the comment
