Context of 1 Chronicles 13:11
9When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put out his hand to hold and steady the ark, for the oxen [that were drawing the cart] nearly overturned it. 10The anger of the Lord burned against Uzza, and He struck him down because he touched the ark; and there he died before God. David became angry because of the Lord’s outburst against Uzza; so that place is called Perez-uzza to this day. 12David was afraid of God that day, and he said, “How can I bring the ark of God home with me?” 13So David did not bring the ark with him to the City of David, but took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 6-14Verses 6-14 Let the sin of Uzza warn all to take heed of presumption, rashness, and irreverence, in dealing with holy things; and let none think that a good design will justify a bad action. Let the punishment of Uzza teach us not to dare to trifle with God in our approaches to him; yet let us, through Christ, come boldly to the throne of grace. If the gospel be to some a savour of death unto death, as the ark was to Uzza, yet let us receive it in the…Read the comment
