How to Present the Message
6T 58.4
The work for this time is to train students and workers to deal with subjects in a plain, serious, and solemn manner. There must be no time uselessly employed in this great work. We must not miss the mark. Time is too short for us to undertake to reveal all that might be opened to view. Eternity will be required for us to know all the length and breadth, the depth and height, of the Scriptures. There are some souls to whom certain truths are of more importance than other truths. Skill is needed in your education in Scriptural lines. Read and study Psalm 40:7, 8; John 1:14; 1 Timothy 3:16; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:14-17; Revelation 5:11-14.Camp-Meetings Their Object, and How to Conduct Them

Learn to meet the people where they are. Do not present subjects that will arouse controversy. Let not your instruction be of a character to perplex the mind. Do not cause the people to worry over things which you may see, but which they do not see, unless these are of vital consequence to the saving of the soul. Do not present the Scriptures in a way to exalt self and encourage vain glory in the one who opens the Word. When Christ arose, a multitude of captives came forth with Him from their graves and went into the city to testify that Christ has risen, and we are risen with Him. Thus the crucifixion and resurrection of the Son of God testified that the law of God was immutable, unchangeable. The great rebel was uprooted from the thoughts of every one as they saw Christ’s resurrection; the question was settled that the law of God was immutable and covered all that were in heaven and in earth, and all the created intelligences. Christ was with His disciples 40 days and 40 nights and then, in my text, it says He was taken up from them into heaven; and the multitude of captives were with Him; and a multitude of the heavenly host was around Him; and as they approached the city of God, the angel that was accompanying Him said, “Lift up your heads, O ye gates, and be ye lifted up, ye ever lasting doors, that the King of glory may come in.” And the sentinels ask, “Who is this King of glory?” And the answer comes back with music rolling up to the gates of heaven, “Lift up your heads, O ye gates, and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall come in.” And again the question comes, “Who is this King of glory? The Lord of Hosts, the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates, even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.” [Psalm 24:7-9.] And the heavenly train passes within the gates of the city; and while the angels are about to worship Him, He waves them back, Not yet; He must hear from the lips of the Father that the sacrifice is accepted. And then He has a request to make, and that request is that “those that Thou hast given Me shall be with Me where I am.” [John 17:24.] He does not forget those who are struggling with the temptations of the enemy upon earth: “They must be with Me where I am.” And the answer comes back from the God of heaven, “And let all the angels of God worship Him.” [Hebrews 1:6.] And there the song echoes and reechoes through the courts of heaven, “Worthy, worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory.” [Revelation 5:12.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 5 (1887-1888)

Let us look around and see what there is that we can do. While in Europe we were in need of money, and I sent over and had my carpets and my cow sold and put the money in where it was needed so much. I want my money put in bags that wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fadeth not away. I might build me costly houses if I wanted to, but I see all around me souls who are the purchase of the blood of Christ, and I want to see them in eternity with the white raiment on. I want to see them cast their glittering crowns at the feet of Jesus, and I want to hear their immortal tongues saying, “Worthy, worthy, worthy is the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world.” [Revelation 5:12; 13:8.] Will not one immortal tongue that shall give praises to God and the Lamb forever and ever be enough to repay us for all the sacrifices we have made here?Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 7 (1891-1892)

Everything depends upon hearing the voice. If one goes on in his self-presumption and self-confidence, he will attribute the voice to anything or anyone but to Jesus, close his ears, turn from the invitation, and open the door of his heart to the bewitching delusions of Satan, to his own ruin. Satan has triumphed. But the tidings of a soul repentant and humbled and contrite before God, creates joy among the angels of God in heaven. Joyous anthems pour forth from angel voices, “Worthy is the Lamb, who is slain to receive, power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessings.” [Revelation 5:12.] “For there is joy in heaven over one sinner that repented.” [Luke 15:7.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 9 (1894)

God help us that we may sanctify soul and body and spirit that we may be fitted for the heavenly courts, that when the finishing touch of immortality is put upon us, we will be ready to sing, “Worthy, worthy is the Lamb slain from the foundations of the earth.” [Revelation 5:12; 13:8.] You carry this song with you every day and when you lay hold of the might of Christ, you are powerful in His strength. Try it. You will find in the meekness and lowliness of Jesus Christ that you love to think of heaven. You will run in the way of His commandments and will say, “Open thou mine eyes that I may see glorious things in thy law.” [Psalm 119:18.] The Lord will be liberty, life and salvation to you. God grant that we may see souls here praising God with heart and soul and mind. God give every one of you power that you may have the victory and not dishonor God. You will never, never be sorry that you took a high standard when you enter the kingdom of God.Heaven

Oh, what music! There is not an inharmonious note. Every voice proclaims, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain and lives again.” [Revelation 5:12.] “He sees of the travail of his soul, and is satisfied.” [Isaiah 53:11.] Do you think anyone there will take time to tell of [his] trials and terrible difficulties? “The former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.” [Isaiah 65:17.] “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” [Revelation 21:4.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 14 (1899)

If we never meet again in this life, I pray that we shall meet in that glad day when the gates of the city of God will be swung back on their glittering hinges, and the nations that have kept the truth will enter in, there to hear Christ saying, in sweetest tones, “Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” “Enter into the joy of thy Lord.” [Matthew 25:34, 21.] The redeemed will cast their crowns at His feet, crying, “Worthy, worthy is the Lamb that was slain!” [Revelation 5:12.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 19 (1904)

The world is to be warned! To those who are faithful during the closing work of the message will be given an abundant entrance through the pearly gates into the city of God; and there every one will be greeted with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” [Matthew 25:23.] A glittering crown will be placed upon every brow, a golden harp in every hand. With strains of sweetest music the redeemed will unite in ascribing praise and thanksgiving to Christ. Christ was the foundation of the whole Jewish economy. The death of Abel was in consequence of Cain’s refusing to accept God’s plan in the school of obedience to be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ typified by the sacrificial offerings pointing to Christ. Cain refused the shedding of blood which symbolized the blood of Christ to be shed for the world. This whole ceremony was prepared by God, and Christ became the foundation of the whole system. This is the beginning of its work as the schoolmaster to bring sinful human agents to a consideration of Christ the Foundation of the whole Jewish economy.Maranatha

And inconceivably great as was the sorrow and the shame, yet greater is the joy and the glory. He looks upon the redeemed, renewed in His own image, every heart bearing the perfect impress of the divine, every face reflecting the likeness of their King. He beholds in them the result of the travail of His soul, and He is satisfied. Then, in a voice that reaches the assembled multitudes of the righteous and the wicked, He declares: “Behold the purchase of My blood! By faith we may stand on the threshold of the eternal city, and hear the gracious welcome given to those who in this life cooperate with Christ, regarding it as an honor to suffer for His sake. As the words are spoken, “Come ye blessed of my Father,” they cast their crowns at the feet of the Redeemer, exclaiming. “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.... Honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever” (Matthew 25:34; Revelation 5:12, 13).Help In Daily Living

The cost of the redemption of the race can never be fully realized until the redeemed shall stand with the Redeemer, by the throne of God. And as they have capacity to appreciate the value of immortal life, and the eternal reward, they will swell the song of victory and immortal triumph, “Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing” (Revelation 5:12). “And every creature,” says John, “which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever” (Revelation 5:13).Testimonies for the Church, vol. 8

He was clothed with light and glory, and was surrounded with hosts of heavenly angels waiting to execute His commands. Yet He put on our nature and came to sojourn among sinful mortals. Those who shun the cross and love the world, its riches and its honors, we must leave behind. Many may pity and despise us. They may sneer and ridicule, misrepresent and falsely accuse us if they choose, but our path is straight forward. Our watch-word is “Onward to victory.” Our work is to teach and defend the plain holy doctrines of the Bible. Our aim is to save the souls of men for whom Christ died, that their voices may be heard in praise and thanksgiving to Him that sitteth on the throne and to the Lamb who hath redeemed us unto God by His precious blood. Why if we were such a people today, what impressions would we make upon the world! They would say that we have something that they have not, and they would begin to inquire, “What can I do to be as happy as that man?” My brethren and sisters, God is your strength, and He does not want you to go crippling along in this life. And when you enter the gate of the New Jerusalem, you will read over the gate, “Blessed are they that do His commandments.” [Revelation 22:14.] He will welcome you and with His own hand place the crown upon the brow of all those who enter there. Then they sing the song of Moses and the Lamb in the kingdom of glory. Well, now, is there not inducement enough that God has set before us, so that we should think upon heavenly things? And the best of it is we do not enter the city as convicts, but as sons and daughters of the Most High God. The Father stands at the gate and welcomes every one to His bosom. There we shall show forth the matchless charms of our Redeemer. And the song will echo, and reecho through the courts of heaven, “Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.” [Revelation 5:13.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 14 (1899)

Then the pearly gates are thrown open, and the train passes into the city. As Christ enters, angels rank on every side to worship him; but he waves them back. He must first hear from the lips of his Father that his sacrifice is accepted. And he has a request to prefer. He presents himself before the Father, “I will that they also whom thou hast given me be with me where I am.” [John 17:24.] The Father accepts the sacrifice, and grants the request. “Let all the angels of God worship him,” He says. [Hebrews 1:6.] Then the angels bow in adoration before the King of glory, and their songs of triumph make heaven’s arches ring. “Glory, majesty, and power,” they sing, “be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.” [Revelation 5:13.]Heaven

God is full of love and plenteous in mercy; but He will by no means acquit those who neglect the great salvation He has provided. The long-lived antediluvians were swept from the earth because they made void the divine law. God will not again bring from the heavens above and the earth beneath waters as His weapons to use in the destruction of the world; but when next His vengeance shall be poured out against those who despise His authority, they will be destroyed by fire concealed in the bowels of the earth, awakened into intense activity by fires from heaven above. Then from the purified earth shall arise a song of praise: “Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.” Revelation 5:13. “Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.” And every one who has made the heavenly treasure the first consideration, ... will join in the glad triumphant strain.5The Review and Herald, February 24, 1885.Patriarchs and Prophets

PP 541.2
The Feast of Tabernacles was not only commemorative but typical. It not only pointed back to the wilderness sojourn, but, as the feast of harvest, it celebrated the ingathering of the fruits of the earth, and pointed forward to the great day of final ingathering, when the Lord of the harvest shall send forth His reapers to gather the tares together in bundles for the fire, and to gather the wheat into His garner. At that time the wicked will all be destroyed. They will become “as though they had not been.” Obadiah 16. And every voice in the whole universe will unite in joyful praise to God. Says the revelator, “Every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever.” Revelation 5:13.That I May Know Him

Thus was presented to the prophet’s vision the great and solemn day when the characters and the lives of men should pass in review before the Judge of all the earth, and to every man should be rendered “according to his works.” The Ancient of days is God the Father.... We are informed in Scripture as to the number, and the power and glory, of the heavenly beings, of their connection with the government of God, and also of their relation to the work of redemption. “The Lord hath prepared His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom ruleth over all.” And, says the prophet, “I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne.” In the presence chamber of the King of kings they wait—“angels, that excel in strength,” “ministers of His, that do His pleasure,” “hearkening unto the voice of His word.” Psalm 103:19-21; Revelation 5:11. Ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands, were the heavenly messengers beheld by the prophet Daniel. The apostle Paul declared them “an innumerable company.” Daniel 7:10; Hebrews 12:22. As God’s messengers they go forth, like “the appearance of a flash of lightning,” (Ezekiel 1:14), so dazzling their glory, and so swift their flight. The angel that appeared at the Saviour’s tomb, his countenance “like lightning, and his raiment white as snow,” caused the keepers for fear of him to quake, and they “became as dead men.” Matthew 28:3, 4. When Sennacherib, the haughty Assyrian, reproached and blasphemed God, and threatened Israel with destruction, “it came to pass that night, that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand.” There were “cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains,” from the army of Sennacherib. “So he returned with shame of face to his own land.” 2 Kings 19:35; 2 Chronicles 32:21.The Great Controversy (1888 ed.)
