If Jesus resisted Satan’s temptations, He will help us to resist: He came to bring divine power to combine with human efforts. Jesus was free from all sin and error; there was not a trace of imperfection in His life or character. He maintained spotless purity under circumstances most trying. True, He declares there is none good but one, that is, God; but again He said, I and My Father are one. [Matthew 19:17; John 10:30.] Jesus speaks of Himself as well as the Father as God and claims for Himself perfect righteousness.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 6 (1889-1890)

Although Satan has misinterpreted God’s purposes, falsified His character, and caused man to look upon God in a false light, yet through the ages God’s love for man has never ceased. Christ’s work was to reveal the Father as merciful, compassionate, full of goodness, and truth. The character of Christ represented the character of God. The only begotten Son of God sweeps back the hellish shadow in which Satan has enveloped the Father, and declares, “I and my Father are one [John 10:30]; look on me and behold God.”Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 7 (1891-1892)

He says, “I and my Father are one.” [John 10:30.] This is what God is to us—a tender, compassionate, heavenly Father. He says, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: he that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing.” “If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” [John 15:5, 7.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 9 (1894)

The law cannot save, you but it is the standard of character, and to represent the character of Jesus Christ you must live the law, for He lived the law in our world. Paul says, “I have taught them from house ... repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” [Acts 20:20, 21.] This is the way. We behold Him for the perfection of His character and then we see the defects in our own character. Do you stand before God and say, “Cleanse us and change us”? You should flee to Jesus Christ and lay hold of the divine merits of the Son of God, and then you are washed from the defilements and stains of sin. There is not a stain in the character because God is enthroned in the heart and Christ does not war against Christ. Christ does not war against the Father. “I and the Father are one.” [John 10:30.] He was in the express image of the Father’s person, and we want to express the character of Jesus Christ. We must claim His sufficiency.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 10 (1895)

Said Christ, “All things that the Father hath are mine.” [John 16:15.] “I and My Father are one. Christ came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give His life a ransom for many. His own divine power and Godhead given for Me? Yes. He declared, “He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father. I and my Father are one.” [John 14:9; John 10:30.] When challenged by the high priest, “I adjure thee by the living God that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God,” Jesus saith unto him, “Thou hast said.” The high priest knew just what that saying comprehended, and he turned and said, “He hath spoken blasphemy.” [Matthew 26:63-65.] Bear all this in your mind. The Saviour whom I know you love, is behind all His words, for His words are truth. Now look at His character, believe His words. Amid insult and scorn and mockery and rejection and shame is He not without guile? Then rest in His words of love, and honor Him by your faith.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 12 (1897)

Shortly before His ascension Christ had prayed, “For their sakes I sanctify myself.” [John 17:19.] I have given myself wholly to the work of human redemption. Charged with this exalted office, Christ stood as the head of humanity, the visible representative of an invisible God. “He that hath seen me,” He declared, “hath seen the Father;” and again, “I and my Father are one.” [John 14:9; 10:30.] And having embodied in Himself the love of God, Christ has imparted it to those who believe on His name, that the copies of His character may be multiplied.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 12 (1897)

“I and my Father are one,” said Jesus. [John 10:30.] Thus through Christ man is brought into oneness with the Father, and we have fellowship and relationship to God. Fathers and mothers should cooperate with God and teach their children to know God, whom to know aright is life eternal. Then they will, in a most sacred sense, educate their children from their infancy to reject the evil and choose the good. It is by patient continuance in well doing that the parents seeking for glory, honor, and immortality will teach their children the lesson.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 13 (1898)

But the anger and the frowning countenances of the Pharisees could not be concealed. Apparently their looks expressed holy horror. They began to reason, saying, “Who is this which speaketh blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” [Luke 5:21.] But who was it that had uttered the words, “Thy sins are forgiven thee”? [Verse 20.] The Son of the living God. Had the Pharisees not been blinded, they would have seen that God alone could forgive sins, and that He was the Christ that was before them. It was Christ who spoke the law from Mount Sinai. The authority by which He spoke was expressly His own; yet it was the authority of the Father also. The Son of God cannot be separated from His Father. The law of God is the express character of the Father and the Son. He placed Himself on a line with the eternal throne, so that its glory was shed in clear rays directly upon Him and was by Him reflected back, mingled with the luster of His own greatness. While He stood forth distinctly in His own personality and spoke in His own name, He was one with the Father. His voice was the living oracle the center of glory. After He assumed humanity He said, “I am in the Father, and the Father in me.” [John 14:10, 11.] “No man knoweth the Son but the Father, neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whom the Son shall reveal him.” [Matthew 11:27.] “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father.” [John 14:9.] “I and my Father are one.” [John 10:30.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 16 (1901)

Let all now understand the representation given by Christ, “He shall not speak of himself”—He shall testify of Me; He shall glorify Me. [John 16:13; 15:26; 16:14.] As the Saviour came to glorify the Father by demonstrating His infinite love in all His works, so the demonstration of the Spirit came to glorify Christ by demonstrating [that] “I and My Father are one.” [John 10:30.] This the true disciples of Christ will do—to so assimilate themselves to Christ that in His disciples should be manifest His great love to the world in [the] expression of their oneness in and through Christ.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 23 (1908)

Christ declared, “I and My Father are one.” [John 10:30.] All the workers in our sanitariums should seek to labor in a similar unity with their brethren. This should be true of the physicians who stand in responsible positions. They should exercise a God-given tact, to show that in dealing with the sick and the suffering they are carrying on the very same work as are their brethren who are laboring in the ministry of the Word. Christ has given us an example. He taught from the Scriptures the gospel truths, and He also healed the afflicted ones who came to Him for relief. He was the greatest Physician the world ever knew, and yet He combined with His healing work the imparting of soul-saving truth.Jesus, Name Above All Names

Arose refreshed by sleep. It snowed during the night. Wrote several pages of testimony for Brethren Atkins and Wilson. Attended meeting. My husband spoke to a crowded house one hour and a half. His discourse was upon “I and my Father are one” [John 10:30], showing the relation the law sustains to the gospel. The people gave the greatest attention. I followed, and spoke about one hour. I thought conviction rested upon many minds. Books were bought and many given away. Brother Andrews spoke in the afternoon with great freedom. These meetings were solemn. To human eyes Christ was only a man, yet He was a perfect man. In His humanity He was the impersonation of the divine character. God embodied His own attributes in His Son—His power, His wisdom, His goodness, His purity, His truthfulness, His spirituality, and His benevolence. In Him, though human, all perfection of character, all divine excellence, dwelt. And to the request of His disciple, “Shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us,” He could reply, “Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?” “I and my Father are one” (John 14:8, 9; 10:30)....TMK 111.3
The strong denunciation of the Pharisees against Jesus was, “Thou, being a man, makest thyself God” (John 10:33), and for this reason they sought to stone Him. Christ did not apologize for this supposed assumption on His part. He did not say to His accusers, “You misunderstand me; I am not God.” He was manifesting God in humanity. Yet He was the humblest of all the prophets, and He exemplified in His life the truth that the more perfect the character of human beings, the more simple and humble they will be. He has given to men a pattern of what they may be in their humanity, through becoming partakers of the divine nature....John 10:30-38

Again the priests and rabbis cried out against Jesus as a blasphemer. His claim to be one with God had before stirred them to take His life, and a few months later they plainly declared, “For a good work we stone Thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that Thou, being a man, makest Thyself God.” John 10:33. Because He was, and avowed Himself to be, the Son of God, they were bent on destroying Him. It is worthy of note that Jesus had given as the reason for his withdrawal from Judea the fact that his hour had not yet come; and yet, when he returned and taught openly, the record is that though “they sought to take him,” yet “no man laid hands on him, because His Hour Was Not Yet Come.”John 7:30. It would seem that although when he could carry on his work elsewhere, he himself took wise precautions to shield himself from the wrath of his enemies, yet when duty called him to the place of danger, his father restrained wicked men from laying hands on him. Yet this divine protection did not lead him to act presumptuously; for when, as a result of his plain teaching, his enemies were angered, and took up “stones to cast at him,” he “hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.” John 8:59. And when they again sought to take him, “he escaped out of their hand, and went away again beyond Jordan into the place where john at first baptized; and there he abode.” There he could work quietly with the many who “resorted unto him.” John 10:39-41.John 10:41

He has undertaken to save us. Shall we be saved? Will we commit the keeping of our souls to Him who hath identified His interests in so remarkable a manner with our interest? If we will accept Christ as our personal Saviour, He will elevate and cleanse us from all moral defilement and He will present us faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. He will say to the Father, “Here are those whom thou hast given me. I will that they also be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory.”Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 10 (1895)
