Context of Song of Songs 1:12
10Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments, your neck with strings of beads. 11Ornaments of gold we will make for you with spangles of silver. While the king is on his couch, my nard spreads its fragrance. 13My lover is my pouch of myrrh, passing the night between my breasts. 14My love is to me a spray of henna blooms in the vineyards of En-gedi.

The king and the woman could be lying on a couch or bed, or they might just be sitting at a table in a palace room. The view that considers the Song as a collection of love songs does not focus on whether the man is actually a king.Read the comment
