Context of Ezekiel 29:8
6Then all the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am Adonai, because they were a staff of reed to the house of Israel. 7When they took hold of you by the hand, you snapped and tore all their shoulders. When they leaned on you, you broke and wrenched all their hips.’” Therefore thus says Adonai Elohim: “Behold, I will bring a sword against you. I will cut off from you man and beast. 9The land of Egypt will become desolate and waste. Then they will know that I am Adonai. Because he said, ‘The Nile is mine—I made it!’ 10therefore behold, I am against you and against your rivers. I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from Migdol to Syene, as far as the border of Ethiopia.
