Context of Daniel 8:26
24His power will be mighty, but it will not be by his strength alone. He will cause extraordinary devastation, and succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy both the powerful and the holy people. 25By his cunning he will cause deceit to prosper under his hand and he will consider himself superior. He will destroy many, taking them unaware. He will even stand up against the Prince of princes, yet he will be broken, but not by human hands. “‘Now the vision of the evenings and mornings that has been told to you is true, but seal up the vision for it concerns many days from now.’ 27“Then I, Daniel, was stricken and languished for days. Then I got up and went about the king’s business, but I was astounded at the vision and no one could explain it.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 26And the vision of the evening and the morning - That is, of the two thousand three hundred days. See Daniel 8:14, and the margin on that verse. The meaning here is, “the vision pertaining to that succession of evenings and mornings.” Perhaps this appellation was given to it particularly because it pertained so much to the evening and morning sacrifice. Is true - Shall be certainly accomplished. This was said by the angel, giving thus to Daniel the…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 15-27Verses 15-27 The eternal Son of God stood before the prophet in the appearance of a man, and directed the angel Gabriel to explain the vision.
