1Now JephthahH3316 the GileaditeH1569 was a mighty manH1368 of valourH2428, and he was the sonH1121 of an harlotH802H2181: and GileadH1568 begatH3205 JephthahH3316.12 2And Gilead’sH1568 wifeH802 boreH3205 him sonsH1121; and his wife’sH802 sonsH1121 grew upH1431, and they thrust outH1644 JephthahH3316, and saidH559 to him, Thou shalt not inheritH5157 in our father’sH1 houseH1004; for thou art the sonH1121 of a anotherH312 womanH802. 3Then JephthahH3316 fledH1272 fromH6440 his brethrenH251, and dweltH3427 in the landH776 of TobH2897: and there were gatheredH3950 worthlessH7386 menH582 to JephthahH3316, and they went outH3318 with him.3
4And it came to pass in process of timeH3117, that the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983 made warH3898 against IsraelH3478.4 5And it was so, that when the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983 made warH3898 against IsraelH3478, the eldersH2205 of GileadH1568 wentH3212 to bringH3947 JephthahH3316 out of the landH776 of TobH2897: 6And they saidH559 to JephthahH3316, ComeH3212, and be our captainH7101, that we may fightH3898 with the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983. 7And JephthahH3316 saidH559 to the eldersH2205 of GileadH1568, Did ye not hateH8130 me, and driveH1644 me out of my father’sH1 houseH1004? and why have ye comeH935 to me now when ye are in distressH6887?
