1 Kings 1:3-15
3So they soughtH1245 for a fairH3303 damselH5291 throughout all the landH1366 of IsraelH3478, and foundH4672 AbishagH49 a ShunammiteH7767, and broughtH935 her to the kingH4428. 4And the damselH5291 was veryH3966 fairH3303, and cherishedH5532 the kingH4428, and ministeredH8334 to him: but the kingH4428 knewH3045 her not.
5Then AdonijahH138 the sonH1121 of HaggithH2294 exaltedH4984 himself, sayingH559, I will be kingH4427: and he preparedH6213 him chariotsH7393 and horsemenH6571, and fiftyH2572 menH376 to runH7323 beforeH6440 him.1 6And his fatherH1 had not displeasedH6087 him at any timeH3117 in sayingH559, Why hast thou done soH6213? and he also was a veryH3966 handsomeH2896H8389 man ; and his mother boreH3205 him afterH310 AbsalomH53.2 7And he conferredH1697 with JoabH3097 the sonH1121 of ZeruiahH6870, and with AbiatharH54 the priestH3548: and they followingH310 AdonijahH138 helpedH5826 him .34 8But ZadokH6659 the priestH3548, and BenaiahH1141 the sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077, and NathanH5416 the prophetH5030, and ShimeiH8096, and ReiH7472, and the mighty menH1368 who belonged to DavidH1732, were not with AdonijahH138. 9And AdonijahH138 slewH2076 sheepH6629 and oxenH1241 and fat cattleH4806 by the stoneH68 of ZohelethH2120, which is byH681 EnrogelH5883, and invitedH7121 all his brethrenH251 the king’sH4428 sonsH1121, and all the menH582 of JudahH3063 the king’sH4428 servantsH5650:5 10But NathanH5416 the prophetH5030, and BenaiahH1141, and the mighty menH1368, and SolomonH8010 his brotherH251, he calledH7121 not.
11Therefore NathanH5416 spokeH559 to BathshebaH1339 the motherH517 of SolomonH8010, sayingH559, Hast thou not heardH8085 that AdonijahH138 the sonH1121 of HaggithH2294 doth reignH4427, and DavidH1732 our lordH113 knowethH3045 it not? 12Now therefore comeH3212, let me, I pray thee, give thee counselH3289H6098, that thou mayest saveH4422 thy own lifeH5315, and the lifeH5315 of thy sonH1121 SolomonH8010. 13GoH3212 and enter inH935 to kingH4428 DavidH1732, and sayH559 to him, Didst not thou, my lordH113, O kingH4428, swearH7650 to thy handmaidH519, sayingH559, AssuredlyH3588 SolomonH8010 thy sonH1121 shall reignH4427 afterH310 me, and he shall sitH3427 upon my throneH3678? why then doth AdonijahH138 reignH4427? 14Behold, while thou art yet talkingH1696 there with the kingH4428, I will also come inH935 afterH310 thee, and confirmH4390 thy wordsH1697.6 15And BathshebaH1339 wentH935 to the kingH4428 into the chamberH2315: and the kingH4428 was veryH3966 oldH2204; and AbishagH49 the ShunammiteH7767 ministeredH8334 to the kingH4428.
