Context of Psalms 9:11
9The LORD also will be a high tower for the oppressed, a high tower in times of trouble; 10And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings. 12For he that maketh inquisition for blood remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the poor. 13Have mercy upon me, O LORD; behold my affliction which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death;

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 11Declare among the people his doings - It is the duty of all those who have received the salvation of God, to recommend him and his salvation to the whole circle of their acquaintance, Christians, so called, when they meet, seldom speak about God! Why is this? Because they have nothing to say.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 11Sing praises to the Lord - As the result of these views of his character, and at the remembrance of his doings. The heart of the psalmist is full of exultation and joy at the remembrance of the divine interposition, and he naturally breaks out into these strong expressions, calling on others to rejoice also. Which dwelleth in Zion - On the word Zion, see the notes at Psalm 2:6. Compare Psalm 3:4; Psalm 5:7. As Zion was the place where at this time the…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 11-20Verses 11-20 Those who believe that God is greatly to be praised, not only desire to praise him better themselves, but desire that others may join with them. We are never brought so low, so near to death, but God can raise us up. If he has saved us from spiritual and eternal death, we may thence hope…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 11The psalm writers often connect the idea that God dwells (or sits, or is enthroned) with a specific place, such as: heaven (Psalm 2:4; see 47:9), Jerusalem, "between the cherubim"(Psalms 80:1; 99:1), "on high" (Psalm 113:5), or "at my right hand" (Psalm 110:1).
