Context of Psalms 119:51
49Remember the word unto thy servant, because thou hast made me to hope. 50This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me. The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not swerved from thy law. 52I have remembered thy judgments of old, O LORD, and have comforted myself. 53Hot indignation hath taken hold upon me, because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 51The proud have had me - We have been treated, not only with oppressive cruelty, but also with contempt, because we still professed to trust in thee, the living God, who because of our transgressions hadst been greatly displeased with us; jet we have not declined from thy law.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 51The proud have had me greatly in derision - Those of rank; those in high life: perhaps, as we should say, the frivolous and fashionable world. Let us be certain we have the Divine law for what we believe, and then let not scoffers prevail upon us to decline from it. God's judgments of old…Read the comment
