30Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Return ye, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. 31Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereto ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 32For I have no pleasure - God repeats what he had so solemnly declared before. Can ye doubt his sincerity? his ability? his willingness? the efficacy of the blood of his covenant? Wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye - Reader, now give God thy heart. Though every man comes into the world with a fallen nature - a soul infected with sin, yet no man is damned on that account. He who refuses that grace which pardons sin and heals infected nature, who permits…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 30-32Verses 30-32 The Lord will judge each of the Israelites according to his ways. On this is grounded an exhortation to repent, and to make them a new heart and a new spirit. God does not command what cannot be done, but admonishes us to do what is in our power, and to pray for what is not. Ordinances and means are appointed, directions and promises are given, that those who desire this change may seek it from God.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 30-32This chapter ends with a strong appeal to the people of Israel. God calls them to turn back to him and live. It was not too late for them to repent. They could turn from their sins and receive forgiveness. God promised to give them a new heart and a new spirit (Ezekiel 11:19; 36:26). A new heart and a new spirit mean an inner change. God would change their thoughts and desires. He would do this for all who turned from their rebellion and came to him with…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 30-3230-32. As God is to judge them "according to their ways" (Pr 1:31), their only hope is to "repent"; and this is a sure hope, for God takes no delight in judging them in wrath, but graciously desires their salvation on repentance. I will judge you--Though ye cavil, it is a sufficient answer that I, your Judge, declare it so, and will judge you according to My will; and then your cavils must end. Repent--inward conversion (Re 2:5). In the Hebrew there is a…Read the comment
