Context of Psalms 78:29

27He also rained meat on them like the dust, Feathered fowl like the sand of the seas; 28And He let them fall in the midst of their camp, All around their dwellings. So they ate and were well filled, For He gave them their own desire. 30They were not deprived of their craving; But while their food was still in their mouths, 31The wrath of God came against them, And slew the stoutest of them, And struck down the choice men of Israel.

• Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 29So they did eat, and were well filled - The word rendered “well” here is intensive. It means that they were abundantly satisfied; that there was no lack; that they had the most ample supply. For he gave them their own desire - He gave them exactly what they asked. He gave them flesh to eat as they had demanded; and he gave it to them in such quantities that no one could say that he had not enough.Read the comment
• Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 9-39Verses 9-39 Sin dispirits men, and takes away the heart. Forgetfulness of God's works is the cause of disobedience to his laws. This narrative relates a struggle between God's goodness and man's badness. The Lord hears all our murmurings and distrusts, and is much displeased.
