But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” 35Thus says the Lord, Who gives the sun for a light by day, The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, Who disturbs the sea, And its waves roar (The Lord of hosts is His name):

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 33After those days - When vision and prophecy shall be sealed up, and Jesus have assumed that body which was prepared for him, and have laid down his life for the redemption of a lost world, and, having ascended on high, shall have obtained the gift of the Holy Spirit to purify the heart; then God's law shall, by it, be put in their inward parts, and written on their hearts; so that all within and all without shall be holiness to the Lord. The Lord will, by his grace, make his people willing people in the day…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 32-34The main difference between the new covenant and the one God made with their ancestors is that the Lord would write his instructions deep within people's hearts (see Hebrews 10:16). The old covenant was external and legal, while the new covenant would be a personal relationship. The new covenant would focus on changing and transforming a person's spiritual nature.Read the comment
