Context of Job 21:24
22“Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since he judges even the highest? 23One person dies in full vigor, completely secure and at ease, well nourished in body, bones rich with marrow. 25Another dies in bitterness of soul, never having enjoyed anything good. 26Side by side they lie in the dust, and worms cover them both.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 24His breasts are full of milk - The word עטיניו atinaiv, which occurs nowhere else in the Hebrew Bible, is most likely an Arabic term, but probably so provincial as to be now lost. (Arabic) atana signifies to macerate hides so as to take off the hair: hence Mr. Good thinks it means here, that sleekness of skin which is the effect of fatness both in man and beast. But as the radical idea signifies to stink, as leather does which is thus macerated, I cannot…Read the comment

The Vulgate renders it, Viscera ejus plena sunt adipe - “his viscera are full of fat.” So the Septuagint, ̀ ̓́ ̓͂ ́ ́ ta engkata autou plērē steatos The Syraic, “his sides;” Prof. Lee, “his bottles;” Noyes…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 17-26Verses 17-26 Job had described the prosperity of wicked people; in these verses he opposes this to what his friends had maintained about their certain ruin in this life. He reconciles this to the holiness and justice of God. Even while they prosper thus, they are light and worthless, of no account with God, or with wise men. In the height of their pomp and power, there is but a step between them and ruin. Job refers the difference Providence makes between…Read the comment
