Context of Deuteronomy 29:2

1These are the terms of the covenant the Lord commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in Moab, in addition to the covenant he had made with them at Horeb. Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them: Your eyes have seen all that the Lord did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials and to all his land. 3With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those signs and great wonders. 4But to this day the Lord has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear.

Commentaries on Deuteronomy 29:2

• Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 2-29As Moses prepared to die, he spoke a farewell message to Israel. In this message, he briefly reviewed their history since they left Egypt. He urged the nation to promise loyalty to the Lord. This part of Deuteronomy shows that grace (God’s undeserved favor) is not only a New Testament teaching. Grace is the foundation of the Lord’s relationship with Israel.Read the comment
• Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 22. Moses called unto all Israel, ...
