Context of Joshua 15:15
13Caleb son of Jephunneh was assigned Kiriath Arba (that is Hebron) within the tribe of Judah, according to the Lord’s instructions to Joshua. (Arba was the father of Anak.) 14Caleb drove out from there three Anakites – Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, descendants of Anak. From there he attacked the people of Debir. (Debir used to be called Kiriath Sepher.) 16Caleb said, “To the man who attacks and captures Kiriath Sepher I will give my daughter Acsah as a wife.” 17When Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s brother, captured it, Caleb gave Acsah his daughter to him as a wife.

It was one of the towns afterward assigned to the Levites. Its other name Joshua 15:49, “Kirjath-sannah”, i. e. perhaps, “city of palm…Read the comment

She obtained more, on her request, and he gave the upper and the nether springs. Those who understand it but of one field, watered both with the rain of heaven, and the springs that issued out of the earth, countenance the allusion commonly made to this, when we pray for spiritual and heavenly blessings which…Read the comment
