Context of Psalms 44:22
20If we forgot the name of our God or stretched out our hands to pray to another god, 21wouldn’t God find out, since he knows the secrets in our hearts? Indeed, we are being killed all day long because of you. We are thought of as sheep to be slaughtered. 23Wake up! Why are you sleeping, O Lord? Awake! Do not reject us forever! 24Why do you hide your face? Why do you forget our suffering and misery?

In the same state were the primitive Christians; and St. Paul applies these words to their case, Romans 8:36.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 22Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long - That is, we are continually or constantly subjected to these calamities.
