Context of Psalms 22:26

24The Lord has not despised or been disgusted with the plight of the oppressed one. He has not hidden his face from that person. The Lord heard when that oppressed person cried out to him for help. 25My praise comes from you while I am among those assembled for worship. I will fulfill my vows in the presence of those who fear the Lord. Oppressed people will eat until they are full. Those who look to the Lord will praise him. May you live forever. 27All the ends of the earth will remember and return to the Lord. All the families from all the nations will worship you 28because the kingdom belongs to the Lord and he rules the nations.

In the true only Sacrifice there shall be such a provision for all believers that they shall have a fullness of joy. Those who offered the sacrifice, fed on what they offered. Jesus, the true Sacrifice, is the bread that came down from heaven; they who eat of this bread shall never die.Read the comment
• Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 26The meek shall eat and be satisfied - The word “meek” - ענוים ‛ănâviym - means here rather “afflicted, distressed, miserable.” This is its usual meaning. It is employed sometimes in the sense of mild or meek (compare Numbers 12:3); but it here manifestly denotes the afflicted; the poor; the distressed. When it is said that they would “eat and be satisfied,” the idea is that of prosperity or abundance; and the statement is, that, as the result of the…Read the comment
• Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 22-31Verses 22-31 The Saviour now speaks as risen from the dead. The first words of the complaint were used by Christ himself upon the cross; the first words of the triumph are expressly applied to him, He 2:12. All our praises must refer to the work of redemption. The suffering of the Redeemer was graciously accepted as a full satisfaction for sin. Though it was offered for sinful men, the Father did not despise or abhor it for our sakes. This ought to be the…Read the comment
