Context of Isaiah 2:2
1This is the message which Isaiah, son of Amoz, saw about Judah and Jerusalem. In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s house will be established as the highest of the mountains and raised above the hills. All the nations will stream to it. 3Then many people will come and say, “Let’s go to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways so that we may live by them.” The teachings will go out from Zion. The Lord’s word will go out from Jerusalem. 4Then he will judge disputes between nations and settle arguments between many people. They will hammer their swords into plowblades and their spears into pruning shears. Nations will never fight against each other, and they will never train for war again.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 2In the last days "In the latter days" - "Wherever the latter times are mentioned in Scripture, the days of the Messiah are always meant," says Kimchi on this place: and, in regard to this place, nothing can be more clear and certain. And the mountain of the Lord's house, says the same author, is Mount Moriah, on which the temple was built. The prophet Micah, Micah 4:1-4, has repeated this prophecy of the establishment of the kingdom of Christ, and of its…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 2In the last days - הימים באחרית be'achărı̂yth hāyâmı̂ym In the “after” days; in the “futurity” of days; that is, in the time to come. This is an expression that often occurs in the Old Testament. It does not of itself refer to any “particular” period, and especially not, as our translation would seem to indicate, to the end of the world. The expression properly denotes “only future time” in general. But the prophets were accustomed to concentrate all…Read the comment

In the New Testament, it refers to the period that started with the arrival of Jesus (Hebrews 1:2). More specifically, it refers to the time just before the end of the current age (2 Peter 3:3). The mountain of the Lord’s house refers to the Temple Mount. This place symbolizes God’s glorious exaltation (see Isaiah 6:1) and his…Read the comment
