Context of Hosea 1:6
4The Lord told Hosea, “Name him Jezreel. In a little while I will punish Jehu’s family for the people they slaughtered at Jezreel. Then I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel. 5On that day I will break Israel’s bows and arrows in the valley of Jezreel.” Gomer became pregnant again and had a daughter. The Lord told Hosea, “Name her Lo Ruhamah [Unloved]. I will no longer love the nation of Israel. I will no longer forgive them. 7Yet, I will love the descendants of Judah. I will rescue them because I am the Lord their God. I won’t use bows, swords, wars, horses, or horsemen to rescue them.” 8After Gomer had weaned Lo Ruhamah, she became pregnant again and had a son.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6Call her Lo-ruhamah - רהמה לא , "Not having obtained mercy." This also was a prophetic or typical name; and the reason of its imposition is immediately given: For I will no more have mercy - ארחם עיד אושיף לא כי ki lo osiph od arachem, "For I will no more add to have mercy upon the house of Israel." This refers to the total destruction of that kingdom.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 6Call her name Lo-ruhamah - The name is rendered in Paul “not beloved” Romans 9:25, in Peter, “hath not obtained mercy” 1 Peter 2:10.
