Context of Ezekiel 46:2
1“ ‘This is what the Almighty Lord says: The east gate of the inner courtyard must be closed during the six working days, but it must be opened on the weekly day of rest—a holy day. It must also be opened on the New Moon Festival. The prince must enter from the outside through the entrance hall of the gateway. He must stand by the doorposts of the gateway. Then the priests must prepare the prince’s burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. He must worship at the entrance of the gateway and then leave. The gate must not be closed until evening. 3The common people must worship at the door of the gateway in the presence of the Lord on the weekly days of rest—holy days, and on New Moon Festivals. 4The prince must offer to the Lord six lambs that have no defects and one ram that has no defects as a burnt offering on the day of rest—a holy day.

Commentaries on Ezekiel 46:2
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 2In the time of Solomon, priest, king, and people each took his due part in the temple-service. Of the later kings some forsook Yahweh for false gods, some encroached upon the prerogative of the priest. Now all should be set right. The prince occupies a position analogous to that of Solomon 2 Chronicles 6:12-13, standing in front of the porch of the eastern gate of the inner court, and at the head of his people to lead their worship, while the priests are…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 2The prince had the special privilege of entering the eastern gateway to the inner courtyard up to the entry room for worship. The prince is to go through the east gate without (open on the Sabbath only, to mark its peculiar sanctity) to the entrance of the gate of the inner court; he is to go no further, but "stand by the post" (compare 1Ki 8:14, 22, Solomon standing before the altar of the Lord in the presence of the congregation; also 2Ki 11:14; 23:3, "by a pillar": the customary place), the court within belonging exclusively to the priests. There, as representative of the…Read the comment
