Context of 1 Chronicles 6:50
48Their relatives, the Levites, were assigned all the other duties in the tent, the house of God. 49Aaron and his descendants offered sacrifices on the altar for burnt offerings and on the altar for incense. They did all the work in the most holy place and removed Israel’s sins to make Israel acceptable to God. They did exactly what God’s servant Moses had commanded. These were Aaron’s descendants: His son was Eleazar. Eleazar’s son was Phinehas. Phinehas’ son was Abishua. 51Abishua’s son was Bukki. Bukki’s son was Uzzi. Uzzi’s son was Zerahiah. 52Zerahiah’s son was Meraioth. Meraioth’s son was Amariah. Amariah’s son was Ahitub.

Commentaries on 1 Chronicles 6:50
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 50These are the sons of Aaron - We have already had a list of these, (see 1 Chronicles 6:3-16;); this is a second, but less extensive, and is a proof that the writer of this book had several lists before him, from which he borrowed as he judged proper.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 50The sons of Aaron - This list, a mere repetition of that in 1 Chronicles 6:3-8, came, probably, from a different source - a source belonging to the time of David, with whom Ahimaaz (the last name on the list) was contemporary. The other list 1 Chronicles 6:4-15 came, no doubt, from a document belonging to the time of the captivity (see 1 Chronicles 6:15).Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 50-53The list of priests from Aaron to Ahimaaz introduces the territorial list (1 Chronicles 6:54–81). The list continues to the time of David, when Ahimaaz served (2 Samuel 15:36; 17:17–29; 18:19–29).Read the comment
