Context of Genesis 19:36
34The next day, the firstborn said to the younger, "Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let us make him drink wine tonight also. Then you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve offspring from our father." 35So they made their father drink wine that night also. And the younger arose and lay with him, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. Thus both the daughters of Lot became pregnant by their father. 37The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day. 38The younger also bore a son and called his name Ben-ammi. He is the father of the Ammonites to this day.

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 36-38The daughters' plan worked. They each became pregnant by their father. From these two sons, born from incest, came two of Israel's long-time enemies: the nations of Moab and Ammon. Their extreme wickedness was partly due to their origins. Both daughters chose descriptive names for their sons. Moab means "from my father" and Ben-ammi means "son of my people." These names subtly hinted at their actions without making people suspicious who were unaware of…Read the comment
