Context of Zechariah 5:8
6I said, ‘What is it?’ He said, ‘It is a basket that people measure with.’ Then he said, ‘It is the sin of all the people in this country.’ 7He lifted the heavy metal lid and there was a woman. She was sitting in the basket! The angel said, ‘This is sin.’ He pushed her into the basket again and he put the heavy metal lid on top of the basket. 9Then I looked up and I saw two women. They flew towards me with strong wings. The wind carried them as the wind carries large birds. They lifted the basket between the earth and the sky. 10Then I said to the angel that talked with me, ‘Where will these women take the basket?’

Ribera: “She had the lower part within the Ephah, but the upper, especially the head, without. Though the Jews had slain the prophets and done many grievous things, the greatest sin of all remained to be done. But when they had crucified Christ and persecuted the Apostles and the Gospel, the measure was full; she was wholly within the Ephah, no part remained without, so that…Read the comment

The woman sitting in the midst of the ephah represents the sinful church and nation of the Jews, in their latter and corrupt age. Guilt is upon the sinner as a weight of…Read the comment
