Context of Psalms 74:18
16Days and nights both belong to you. You put the moon and the sun in their places. 17You said where the land must be among the seas. You made both summer and winter. Lord, think about your enemies. They are always laughing at you. Foolish people are insulting your name. 19We, your people, are like your own special dove. Do not let wild animals destroy us! We are weak and poor, so do not forget about us! 20Remember what you have promised to do for us. There are dark places everywhere, where cruel people hide.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 18Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached - Has used opprobrious and abusive words in regard to thee, and to thy people. The idea is, that religion - the true religion - had been reproached by the foe. They had treated that religion as if it were false; they had reproached God as if he were a false God, and as if he were unable to defend his people. Compare Isaiah 36:4-10, Isaiah 36:13-20; Isaiah 37:10-13, Isaiah 37:23. The prayer here is, that God…Read the comment
