Context of Psalms 73:8
6Their pride is like their necklace. They like to be cruel, as they like to wear clothes. 7Their greedy eyes lead them into sin. Their minds think of evil things to do. They laugh at people and they say bad things about them. They proudly speak about cruel things that they want to do to people. 9They think that they rule in heaven, as well as on the earth! 10As a result, God's people become confused, and they listen to them. They think that everything is true that those wicked people say.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 8They are corrupt - literally, “they mock.” The word rendered “they are corrupt” never has this signification. It is the very word - מוק mûq - from which our word mock is derived, and means the same thing. The idea is that they deride religion, or mock at all that pertains to God, and to the retributions of the future world. And speak wickedly concerning oppression - literally, “they speak in wickedness; oppression they speak from on high.” That is…Read the comment
