Context of Numbers 7:84
82He brought one male goat for a sin offering. 83He also brought two oxen, five male sheep, five male goats, and five male lambs that were less than one year old. Those animals were for the friendship offerings. That was the gift of Ahira, the son of Enan. The leaders of Israel brought these gifts to the altar when Moses poured special oil on it. They brought all the gifts in the list below. They brought 12 plates and 12 bowls that people had made from silver. 85Each plate weighed 130 shekels and each bowl weighed 70 shekels. All the silver weighed 2,400 shekels. That was the shekel of God's Holy Tent. 86They brought 12 small dishes that people had made from gold. Each small dish weighed ten shekels. They were each full of incense. All the gold weighed 120 shekels.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 84This was the dedication of the altar, in the day, etc. - Meaning here the time in which it was dedicated; for as each tribe had a whole day for its representative or prince to present the offerings it had provided, consequently the dedication, in which each had his day, must have lasted twelve days: the words therefore, in this text, refer to the last day or twelfth, in which this dedication was completed.Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 10-89Verses 10-89 The princes and great men were most forward in the service of God. Here is an example to those in authority, and of the highest rank; they ought to use their honour and power, their estate and interest, to promote religion and the service of God in the places where they live. Though it was a time of joy and rejoicing, yet still, in the midst of their sacrifices, we find a sin-offering. As, in our best services, we are conscious that there is…Read the comment
