Context of Jeremiah 45:1
Baruch wrote down on a scroll the words that Jeremiah told him to write. That happened in the fourth year that Josiah's son, Jehoiakim, ruled Judah as king. At that time, Jeremiah said to Baruch, 2‘The Lord, Israel's God, says this to you, Baruch: 3You said, “I have terrible trouble! I have a lot of pain, and the Lord has also made me very sad. I am so upset that I have become very weak. I cannot rest at all.”

Commentaries on Jeremiah 45:1
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 1The word that Jeremiah - spake unto Baruch - This is another instance of shameless transposition. This discourse was delivered in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, several years before Jerusalem was taken by the Chaldeans. It is a simple appendage to chap. 36, and there it should have been inserted.Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 1An encouragement sent to Baruch. Baruch was employed in writing Jeremiah's prophecies, and reading them, see Jr 36, and was threatened for it by the king. Young beginners in religion are apt to be discouraged with little difficulties, which they commonly meet with at first in the service of God. These complaints and fears came from his corruptions. Baruch had raised his expectations too high in this world, and that made the distress and trouble he was in…Read the comment

Afterwards follow the prophecies referring to other nations, closing the book [Grotius]. The date of the events here told is eighteen years before the…Read the comment
