Read Jeremiah 45 in the Bible

Jeremiah 45:1-5

This chapter takes place in 605 BC, over twenty years before the previous chapters. Jeremiah’s secretary, Baruch, felt overwhelmed with problems. The Lord promised him safety.

Jeremiah 45:1

This event happened in the same year Baruch spent many hours in hiding. There, he wrote the messages the Lord gave to Jeremiah (Jeremiah 36:1–4).

Jeremiah 45:3

Jehoiakim had threatened to kill both Jeremiah and Baruch, so the prophet and the scribe went into hiding. Baruch was very tired and felt sorry for himself.

Jeremiah 45:5

Baruch could rely on divine protection, regardless of the troubles he faced. The chapters before this one show that the Lord kept this promise. Baruch was with Jeremiah when they went to Egypt.
