Context of Isaiah 63:5
3He says, ‘I have walked on the grapes alone. Nobody from the nations came to help me. I walked on them because I was angry. I squeezed them to pieces in my anger. Their blood splashed on my clothes, and it made all my clothes dirty. 4I decided that it was time to punish my enemies. Then I would save my people from their power. I looked for somebody to give help, but there was nobody. I was very upset, because nobody was there to help. So I used my own strength to rescue my people. My anger helped me to be strong. 6Because I was angry, I walked on the nations to punish them. My anger was like strong wine that made them drunk. I poured their blood onto the ground.’ 7I will speak about all the good things that the Lord does because he loves his people. We should praise him for everything that he does for us. He has done many good things for us, Israel's family. He helps us because he loves us very much, and he is very kind.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 5And my fury "And mine indignation" - For וחמתי vachamathi, nineteen MSS. (three ancient) of Kennicott's, nine of De Rossi's, and one of mine, and four editions, have וצדקתי vetsidkathi, and my righteousness; from Isaiah 59:16, which I suppose the transcriber retained in his memory. It is true that the Versions are in favor of the common reading; but that noticed above seems to stand on good authority, and is a reading both pleasing and impressive…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 5And I looked and there was none to help - The same sentiment is expressed in Isaiah 59:16 (see the note at that verse). None to uphold - None to sustain or assist. The design is to express the fact that he was entirely alone in this work: that none were disposed or able to assist him. Though this has no direct reference to the plan of salvation, or to the work of the Messiah as a Redeemer, yet it is true of him also that in that work he stood alone. No…Read the comment
