Context of Isaiah 39:6
4Isaiah asked, ‘What did they see in your palace?’ Hezekiah said, ‘They saw everything that is in my palace. I showed all my valuable things to them.’ 5Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, ‘Listen to this message from the Lord Almighty: “Understand this! One day, soldiers from Babylon will carry away all your valuable things. Everything that you and your ancestors have stored here until now will go to Babylon. They will leave nothing here. 7Some of your own descendants will also go to Babylon. Soldiers from Babylon will take them away from here. Your descendants will become eunuchs in the king of Babylon's palace.” That is what the Lord says. ’ 8Hezekiah said to Isaiah, ‘The Lord's message that you have spoken to me is good.’ But he was thinking, ‘While I am still alive, people will live safely without any trouble.’

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6To Babylon - בבלה babelah, so two MSS., (one ancient); rightly, without doubt as the other copy ( 2 Kings 20:17;) has it. This prediction was fulfilled about one hundred and fifty years after it was spoken: see Daniel 1:2, Daniel 1:3-7. What a proof of Divine omniscience!Read the comment

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 6-7carried off to Babylon: This prophecy came before the prophecy about saving Jerusalem (Isaiah 37:35). Although this judgment and exile seem like a surprising end to Hezekiah's story, the exile of Israel and Judah was always a possibility (Isaiah 10:3–4, 20–23). The Lord promised to protect Judah and Jerusalem from the Assyrians in 701 BC, but he warned Isaiah that worse would happen if they did not change. God showed his power and reliability by defeating…Read the comment
