Context of Ezekiel 46:22
20He said to me, ‘This is the place where the priests will cook the meat for the sin offerings and for the guilt offerings. They will bake the grain offerings here, too. In this way, they will not have to take these holy things into the outside yard. If they did that, someone might touch them and become holy.’ 21Then the man took me to the outside yard. He took me around the yard to see its four corners. In each corner I saw that there was a small yard These four small yards were 20 metres long and 15 metres wide. They were all the same size. 23They had stone walls around them. At the bottom of the walls they had made places for fires to burn. 24The man said to me, ‘The temple servants will use these kitchens to cook meat that the people bring for sacrifices.’

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 19-24Verses 19-24 The careful provision here made to keep separate the offerings of priests and people was to prevent collision, just as the enactments Ezekiel 46:16-18 were intended to secure their respective rights to prince and people. - Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 19-24The vision of the temple proper (Ezekiel 40–46) ends where the tour started. The prophet began in the outer court. He traveled to the center and back out twice, finishing at the outer court's edges, in the kitchens. Here, people cooked various sacrifices. Some sacrifices were burned completely on the altar. Others were only partially burned, with parts returned so the worshiper could feast with his family in the Lord's presence.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 19-2419-24. Due regard is to be had for the sanctity of the officiating priests' food, by cooking courts being provided close to their chambers. One set of apartments for cooking was to be at the corners of the inner court, reserved for the flesh of the sin offerings, to be eaten only by the priests whose perquisite it was (Le 6:25; 7:7), before coming forth to mingle again with the people; another set at the corners of the outer court, for cooking the flesh…Read the comment
