Context of Ezekiel 32:1
The Lord gave this message to me on the first day of the 12th month, in the 12th year: 2‘Son of man, sing a funeral song about Pharaoh, king of Egypt. Say this to him: “You have shown your power among the nations, like a strong lion. But really you are a monster who lives in the sea. You live in the rivers of your country. You beat the water with your feet. The water of your streams becomes dirty. 3This is what the Almighty Lord says: I will bring a big crowd of people together to catch you in my net. They will use my net to pull you out of the water.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 1In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first day of the month - On Wednesday, March 22, the twelfth year of the captivity of Jeconiah, A.M. 3417. Instead of the twelfth year, five of Kennicott's MSS., and eight of De Rossi's, read עשרה בעשתי in the eleventh year. This reading is supported by the Syriac; and is confirmed by an excellent MS. of my own, about four hundred years old.Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 1The fall of Egypt. (Ezek 32:1-16) It is like that of other nations. (Ezek 32:17-32) Verses 1-16 It becomes us to weep and tremble for those who will not weep and tremble for themselves. Great oppressors are, in God's account, no better than beasts of prey. Those who admire the pomp of this world, will wonder at the ruin of that pomp; which to those who know the vanity of all things here below, is no surprise. When others are ruined by sin, we have to…Read the comment
