Ezekiel 28:16
16As a trader, you bought and sold many things. As a result, you became violent and you did evil things. So I sent you away in shame. I would not allow you to remain on my mountain. The cherub that had been your guard chased you out. You could no longer walk among the stones that burned with fire.

Context of Ezekiel 28:16
14I put you there with a cherub to be your guard. You lived on my holy mountain. You walked among the stones that burned with fire. 15Everything that you did was completely good from the day that you were born. But later, you started to do wicked things. As a trader, you bought and sold many things. As a result, you became violent and you did evil things. So I sent you away in shame. I would not allow you to remain on my mountain. The cherub that had been your guard chased you out. You could no longer walk among the stones that burned with fire. 17But because you were so beautiful, you were very proud. You used your wisdom to do bad things, because you loved to have beautiful things. So I threw you down to the ground. I let other kings see what had happened to you. 18As a trader, you did many wrong things to cheat people. Your holy places became unclean. So I caused fire to completely destroy your city. Everyone could see that only ashes remained on the ground.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 11-19Verses 11-19 The dirge of the prince of Tyre, answering to the dirge of the state. The passage is ironical; its main purpose is to depict all the glory, real or assumed, of “the prince of Tyrus,” in order to show how deplorable should be his ruin. Ezekiel 28:12 To “seal the sum” is to make up the whole measure of perfection. Compare the Septuagint Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden - “Thou” wast etc. The prince of Tyrus is ironically described as the…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 15-18This sarcastic description of the prince of Tyre's greatness and pride sets him up for his fall, similar to the fall of humanity (Genesis 3). Like Adam, the king of Tyre's supposedly blameless state was temporary and ended abruptly when evil was found in him. His wealth and dishonest trade led him to violence (compare Ezekiel 26:17). Someone who claimed to be greater than Adam could experience a similar fall from favor and be banished from the mountain of…Read the comment
