Genesis 1:1-8

In the beginning 1God created the heavens and the earth.

And the earth was waste and empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of 2God was hovering over the face of the waters.

And 3God said, Let there be light. And there was light.

And 4God saw the light that it was good; and 5God divided between the light and the darkness.

And 6God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening, and there was morning — the first day.

And 7God said, Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it be a division between waters and waters.

And 8God made the expanse, and divided between the waters that are under the expanse and the waters that are above the expanse; and it was so.

And 9God called the expanse Heavens. And there was evening, and there was morning — a second day.
