Context of Leviticus 25:22
20If you wonder, ‘What will we eat in the seventh year if we don’t sow or gather our produce?’ 21I will appoint my blessing for you in the sixth year, so that it will produce a crop sufficient for three years. When you sow in the eighth year, you will be eating from the previous harvest. You will be eating this until the ninth year when its harvest comes in. 23“The land is not to be permanently sold because it is mine, and you are only aliens and temporary residents on my land. 24You are to allow the redemption of any land you occupy.

This sound was to be made on the evening of the great day of atonement; for the proclamation of gospel liberty and salvation results from the sacrifice of the Redeemer. It was provided that the lands should not be sold away from their families. They could only be disposed of, as it were, by leases till the year of jubilee, and then returned to the owner or his…Read the comment

The sixth year was to yield a miraculous supply for three continuous years. And the remark is applicable to the year of Jubilee as well as the sabbatic year…Read the comment
