They have acted perversely; their death is their own fault. 13If a man sleeps with a man as with a woman, they have both committed a detestable act. They must be put to death; their death is their own fault. If a man marries a woman and her mother, it is depraved. Both he and they must be burned, so that there will be no depravity among you. 15If a man has sexual intercourse with an animal, he must be put to death; you are also to kill the animal. 16If a woman approaches any animal and mates with it, you are to kill the woman and the animal. - Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 14They shall be burnt with fire - As there are worse crimes mentioned here, (see Leviticus 20:11; and Leviticus 20:17;), where the delinquent is ordered simply to be put to death, or to be cut off, it is very likely that the crime mentioned in this verse was not punished by burning alive, but by some kind of branding, by which they were ever after rendered infamous. I need not add that the original, ישרפו באש baesh yishrephu, may, without violence to its…Read the comment

Proper worship of God leads to good behavior toward others, while improper worship leads to moral violations.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 7-197-19. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy--The minute specification of the incestuous and unnatural crimes here enumerated shows their sad prevalence amongst the idolatrous nations around, and the extreme proneness of the Israelites to follow the customs of their neighbors. It is to be understood, that, whenever mention is made that the offender was "to be put to death" without describing the mode, stoning is meant. The only instance of another…Read the comment
