Context of Exodus 6:7
5Furthermore, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are forcing to work as slaves, and I have remembered my covenant. 6“Therefore tell the Israelites: I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from the forced labor of the Egyptians and rescue you from slavery to them. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and great acts of judgment. I will take you as my people, and I will be your God. You will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from the forced labor of the Egyptians. 8I will bring you to the land that I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.” 9Moses told this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their broken spirit and hard labor.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 7I will take you to me for a people, etc. - This was precisely the covenant that he had made with Abraham. See Genesis 17:7, and see Clarke's note on Genesis 17:7. And ye shall know that I am the Lord your God - By thus fulfilling my promises ye shall know what is implied in my name. See Clarke's note on Exodus 6:3. - Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 7Then you will know that I am the LORD: The Hebrew word translated know is always about experience and relationship. This word also describes human sexual relations. This is the only true rescue from the human problem of sin described in Genesis 3–11. The idea of knowing the Lord is…Read the comment
