- New King James Version (NKJV)O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day—to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those near and those far off in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of the unfaithfulness which they have committed against You.
Context of Daniel 9:7
5we have sinned, done wrong, acted wickedly, rebelled, and turned away from your commands and ordinances. 6We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, leaders, ancestors, and all the people of the land. Lord, righteousness belongs to you, but this day public shame belongs to us: the men of Judah, the residents of Jerusalem, and all Israel — those who are near and those who are far, in all the countries where you have banished them because of the disloyalty they have shown toward you. 8Lord, public shame belongs to us, our kings, our leaders, and our ancestors, because we have sinned against you. 9Compassion and forgiveness belong to the Lord our God, though we have rebelled against him

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee - Margin, “or, thou hast.” The Hebrew is, “to thee is righteousness, to us shame, etc.” The state of mind in him who makes the prayer is that of ascribing righteousness or justice to God. Daniel feels and admits that God has been right in his dealings. He is not disposed to blame him, but to take all the shame and blame to the people. There is no murmuring or complaining on his part as if God had done wrong in any…Read the comment

We should, in prayer, look both at God's greatness and his…Read the comment
