Context of Job 32:11

9It is not only the old who are wise, or the elderly who understand justice. 10Therefore I say, ‘Listen to me; I too will declare what I know.’ Indeed, I waited while you spoke; I listened to your reasoning; as you searched for words, 12I paid you full attention. But no one proved Job wrong; not one of you rebutted his arguments. 13So do not claim, ‘We have found wisdom; let God, not man, refute him.’

• Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 11I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons - Instead of תבונותיכם tebunotheychem, your reasons, תכונותיכם techunotheychem, your arguments, is the reading of nine of Kennicott's and De Rossi's MSS. The sense, however, is nearly the same. Whilst ye searched out what to say - מלין תחקרון עד ad tachkerun millin ; "Whilst ye were searching up and down for words." A fine irony, which they must have felt.Read the comment

They had carefully sought out all the arguments at their command to confute…Read the comment

By attention to the word of God, and dependence upon the Holy Spirit, young men may become wiser than the aged; but this wisdom will render them swift to hear, slow to speak, and disposed to give others a…Read the comment
