Context of Jeremiah 33:3
1While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him a second time: 2“Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it, the LORD is His name: Call to Me, and I will answer and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know. 4For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says about the houses of this city and the palaces of the kings of Judah that have been torn down for defense against the siege ramps and the sword: 5The Chaldeans are coming to fight and to fill those places with the corpses of the men I will strike down in My anger and in My wrath. I have hidden My face from this city because of all its wickedness.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 3Call unto eve, and I will answer thee - To me alone it belongs to reveal what is future; and the stupendous things which are now coming are known only to myself. These idolaters go to their gods to get information relative to the issue of the present commotions; but there is no light in them. Ask thou, O Jeremiah, and I will tell thee the great and mighty things which even thou knowest not.Read the comment

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-26As Jerusalem and the king of Judah faced invaders, God gave Jeremiah insight into His long-term plan. The promises would only come true after the destruction. The nation's hope was not in avoiding destruction but in the purification it would bring. Jeremiah was confined in the courtyard of the guard in the royal palace from late 587 BC, during the siege, until Jerusalem fell in August 586 BC (see Jeremiah 32:2).Read the comment

Jeremiah, as the representative of the people of God, is urged by God to pray for that which God has determined to grant; namely, the restoration.
