Context of Ezekiel 48:22
20All the oblation shall be five and twenty thousand by five and twenty thousand: ye shall offer the holy oblation foursquare, with the possession of the city. 21And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy oblation and of the possession of the city; in front of the five and twenty thousand of the oblation toward the east border, and westward in front of the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, answerable unto the portions, it shall be for the prince: and the holy oblation and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof. Moreover from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, being in the midst of that which is the prince’s, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, it shall be for the prince. 23And as for the rest of the tribes: from the east side unto the west side, Benjamin, one portion. 24And by the border of Benjamin, from the east side unto the west side, Simeon, one portion.

Commentaries on Ezekiel 48:22
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 21-29The land that lay to the east and west of the holy square completed the rest of the central area. This land was assigned to the prince. The prince held a higher position than the rest of the people. However, he was below the priests and the Levites in rank and responsibility. His place in the land showed this order. The design of the temple complex taught the same lesson. The arrangement of space showed clear levels of authority and holiness.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1-351. Dan--The lands are divided into portions of ideal exactness, running alongside of each other, the whole breadth from west to east, standing in a common relation to the temple in the center: seven tribes' portions on the north, five in the smaller division in the south. The portions of the city, the temple, the prince, and the priesthood, are in the middle, not within the boundaries of any tribe, all alike having a common interest in them. Judah has the…Read the comment
