17In the plain of the Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredah. 18Thus Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance: for the weight of the brass could not be found out. And Solomon made all the vessels that were in the house of God, the golden altar also, and the tables whereon was the showbread; 20and the candlesticks with their lamps, to burn according to the ordinance before the oracle, of pure gold; 21and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, of gold, and that perfect gold;

Commentaries on 2 Chronicles 4:19
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 19The tables - A single table only is mentioned in 1 Kings 7:48; 2 Chronicles 29:18. It is supposed that Solomon made ten similar tables, any one of which might be used for the showbread; but that the bread was never placed on more than one table at a time.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 19The Bread of the Presence represented God's provision for his people. It was placed before God on the tables (2 Chronicles 4:8) as an offering, showing it belonged to God and that Israel's provision came from God's "table." The priests ate some of the bread (Leviticus 24:5–9), and the rest was burned. This meal symbolized the covenant meal of fellowship between God and his people (see Exodus 24:9–11).Read the comment
