Context of 2 Kings 24:11
9He did evil in the sight of the Lord, in accordance with everything that his father had done. 10At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon went up to Jerusalem, and the city came under siege. Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his servants were besieging it. 12Jehoiachin king of Judah surrendered to the king of Babylon, he and his mother and his servants and his captains and his [palace] officials. So the king of Babylon took him prisoner in the eighth year of his [own] reign. 13He carried out of there (Jerusalem) all the treasures of the house (temple) of the Lord, and the treasures of the house (palace) of the king, and cut in pieces all the articles of gold in the temple of the Lord, which Solomon king of Israel had made, just as the Lord had said.

Though the judgments of God upon the three kings before him might have warned him, he did that which was evil, like them. When those intrusted with the counsels of a nation act unwisely, and against their true…Read the comment

Nebuchadnezzar sent his generals to besiege Jerusalem, as Jeremiah had foretold (Jr 22:28; 34:20), and soon after he followed in person. Convinced of the hopelessness of making any effectual resistance, Jehoiachin, going…Read the comment
