Context of 2 Chronicles 36:9
7Nebuchadnezzar also brought some of the articles of the house (temple) of the Lord to Babylon and put them in his temple there. 8Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim and the repulsive acts which he committed, and what was found against him, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. And his son Jehoiachin became king in his place. Jehoiachin was eight[teen] years old when he became king, and he reigned for three months and ten days in Jerusalem, and he did evil in the sight of the Lord. 10Now at the turn of the year [in the spring], King Nebuchadnezzar sent word and had him brought to Babylon with the valuable articles of the house of the Lord, and made his brother Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem. 11Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned for eleven years in Jerusalem.

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 9-10The Chronicler focuses on Jehoiachin’s brief reign by mentioning his exile and the tribute paid from the temple instruments. The Babylonian Chronicle describes Jehoiachin's capture: “In the seventh year of Nebuchadnezzar, during the month of Kislev, the king of Akkad gathered his troops, marched to the land west of the Jordan, and set up camp against the city of Judah. On the second day of the month of Adar, he seized the city and captured the king.”…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 9-109-10. Jehoiachin was eight years old--called also Jeconiah or Coniah (Jr 22:24)--"eight" should have been "eighteen," as appears from 2Ki 24:8, and also from the full development of his ungodly principles and habits (see Eze 19:5-7). His reign being of so short duration cannot be considered at variance with the prophetic denunciation against his father (Jr 36:30). But his appointment by the people gave umbrage to Nebuchadnezzar, who, "when the year was…Read the comment
