Lycaonia
A region in Asia Minor; Paul and Barnabas preached there
The place
Lycaonia was a region in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey) mentioned in the New Testament. When Paul and Barnabas faced persecution in Iconium, they fled to the cities of Lycaonia, particularly Lystra and Derbe, where they continued to preach the gospel (Acts 14:6). In Lystra, the people spoke the Lycaonian language (Acts 14:11), indicating that Lycaonia had its own distinct culture and dialect.
