I desire you to study with me some messages found in the prophecies of Isaiah, which have been recorded for our encouragement. We read: “O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.” “Thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.” Isaiah 25:1, 4.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 13 (1898)

All who desire a place of distinction have an opportunity to wear the yoke of Christ. “Learn of me,” says the great Teacher, “for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” [Matthew 11:29, 30.] Let the cry of the soul be, “O Lord, thou art my God: I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. ... The chapters we were reading in course were in Isaiah. He read with us, and the very portions of Scripture which specified his sin was read by himself. We thought we would give him every chance to make the application to his own case and this might awaken in him a remorse, but it did not seem to have the least influence. He did that night—after we labored with him a long while and then left him with Brother Rousseau and Brother Prescott—confess his sins of vileness, and the conditions were plainly stated, if he would break away at once, and return to New Zealand, we would furnish him money. But he said positively he would not go to New Zealand.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 13 (1898)

God chooses His workers from all classes of people, and imbues them with His own spirit. So it was in ancient times. The men and women of God’s selection were of intense earnestness, full of zeal. The last books of the Old Testament show us workers taken from the laborers in the field. Others were men of high ability and extensive learning, but the Lord gave them visions and messages. These men of the Old Testament spoke of the things transpiring in their day, and Daniel, Isaiah, and Ezekiel not only spoke of things that concerned them as present truth, but their sight reached down to the future, and to what should occur in these last days.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 18 (1903)

This parable is for the interest of all to understand. It is the science of salvation, which is the true science essential for all to understand. It is the Gospel of saving grace. The Gospel covenant is represented by a marriage. The dinner is prepared, the dinner ready. The Word of the living God, to be received and practiced here, is the preparation [needed] to come into church relationship. The feast is the blessing of pardon. The removing, taking away, of their sins is the work of the free access of grace, to the riches of His glory. [See] Isaiah 25-26. What a preparation God has made! The wedding garment is the righteousness of Christ.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 19 (1904)

The day of wrath to the enemies of God is the day of final deliverance to His church. The prophet declares: “Strengthen ye the weak hands,And confirm the feeble knees.Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not:
Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
Even God with a recompense;
He will come and save you.”“He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of His people shall He take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.” Isaiah 35:3, 4; 25:8. And as the prophet beholds the Lord of glory descending from heaven with all the holy angels, to gather the remnant church from among the nations of earth, he hears the waiting ones unite in the exultant cry:“Lo, this is our God;
We have waited for Him,
And He will save us:

Such was the prospect that greeted Isaiah when he was called to the prophetic mission; yet he was not discouraged, for ringing in his ears was the triumphal chorus of the angels surrounding the throne of God, “The whole earth is full of His glory.” Isaiah 6:3. And his faith was strengthened by visions of glorious conquests by the church of God, when “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” Isaiah 11:9. “The face of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations,” was finally to be destroyed. Isaiah 25:7. The Spirit of God was to be poured out upon all flesh. Those who hunger and thirst after righteousness were to be numbered among the Israel of God. “They shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the watercourses,” said the prophet. “One shall say, I am the Lord’s; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the Lord, and surname himself by the name of Israel.” Isaiah 44:4, 5.The Review and Herald

From garrets, from hovels, from dungeons, from scaffolds, from mountains and deserts, from the caves of the earth and the caverns of the sea, Christ will gather His children to Himself. On earth they have been destitute, afflicted, and tormented. Millions have gone down to the grave loaded with infamy because they refused to yield to the deceptive claims of Satan. By human tribunals the children of God have been adjudged the vilest criminals. But the day is near when “God is judge Himself.” (Psalm 50:6). Chapter 40—God’s People Delivered
GC 644.1
In the lives of all who reject truth there are moments when conscience awakens, when memory presents the torturing recollection of a life of hypocrisy and the soul is harassed with vain regrets. But what are these compared with the remorse of that day when “fear cometh as desolation,” when “destruction cometh as a whirlwind”! Proverbs 1:27. Those who would have destroyed Christ and His faithful people now witness the glory which rests upon them. In the midst of their terror they hear the voices of the saints in joyful strains exclaiming: “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us.” Isaiah 25:9.GC 650.1

“While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept” (Matthew 25:5). Who have oil in their vessels with their lamps? Should the Saviour come at this time, would not many of us be afraid to meet Him? Could we hail Him with joy, saying, “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us” (Isaiah 25:9)? Are we ready for His appearing? Is the soul temple cleansed of its defilement? Would we want Christ to come and find us in disunion, in strife with one another? Would we want Christ to come and find us in frivolous amusements, in concerts which some patronize? We want to be found waiting and watching, with our garments made white and clean in the blood of the Lamb.—Letter 29, 1882, pp. 5, 6. (To W. H. Edwards, June 14, 1882.)10MR 388.3
Preparing for Christ’s Second Advent—We are looking for the second coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We are not only to believe that the end of all things is at hand. Suppose that today Christ should appear in the clouds of heaven, who ... would be ready to meet Him? Suppose we should be translated into the kingdom of heaven just as we are. Would we be prepared to unite with the saints of God, to live in harmony with the royal family, the children of the heavenly King? What preparation have you made for the judgment? Have you made your peace with God? ... Are you seeking to help those around you, those in your home, those in your neighborhood, those with whom you come in contact that are not keeping the commandments of God? ... Remember that profession is worthless without a practice that enters into the daily life. God knows whether we are keeping His law in truth. He knows just what we are doing, just what we are thinking and saying. Are we getting ready to meet the King? When He comes in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory, will you be able to say, “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us” (Isaiah 25:9)? To those who can say this Christ will say, “Come up higher. Upon this earth you have loved Me. You have loved to do My will. Dear young reader, seek a thorough preparation to meet Jesus, that when He appears you may exclaim with joy, “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us.” Isaiah 25:9. Eternal life will then be yours, and you will be a partaker with Christ of His glory, ever to hear His glorious approving voice and behold His lovely person.24The Youth’s Instructor, April 1854.The Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 4
Chapter 35—God’s People Delivered
4SP 462.2
In the lives of all who reject truth, there are moments when conscience awakens, when memory presents the torturing recollection of a life of hypocrisy, and the soul is harassed with vain regrets. But what are these compared with the remorse of that day when “fear cometh as desolation,” when “destruction cometh as a whirlwind!” [Proverbs 1:27.] Those who would have destroyed Christ and his faithful people, now witness the glory which rests upon them. In the midst of their terror they hear the voices of the saints in joyful strains exclaiming, “Lo, this is our God, we have waited for him, and he will save us.” [Isaiah 25:9.]The Story of Jesus

The King of kings descends upon the cloud, wrapped in flaming fire. The heavens are rolled together as a scroll, the earth trembles before Him, and every mountain and island is moved out of its place.... The wicked pray to be buried beneath the rocks of the mountains rather than meet the face of Him whom they have despised and rejected.... Those who would have destroyed Christ and His faithful people now witness the glory which rests upon them. The Lord will be with us during this life, if we allow ourselves to be led by His Spirit and do not neglect to glorify His name. We should bring as much of heaven as possible into this life. The light of heaven shining into the heart will be imparted in words of pleasantness, in deeds of kindness, to those who are near us. Let there be that littleness, that humbleness of soul, that they may know that you have been taught in the school of Christ. And when He shall appear in the clouds of heaven, we shall exclaim, “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us” (Isaiah 25:9). Then it is that the crown of life will be placed upon the brow of the faithful ones. Then will come the voice of the Saviour saying, “Well done thou good and faithful servant; ... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord” (Matthew 25:21-23). What, faithful in putting their feet upon the law of God? No, No. These have not the mark of the beast upon them. I want that peace that comes through an obedience to all of the commandments of God. Let us confess our faults to one another and pray for one another. Let us act as if we were in earnest. Let us leave the darkness and the gloom and the mist, and stand where the Sun of righteousness can shine upon us. Then we shall be a blessing and a help to one another. We shall strengthen one another in the most holy faith. Let us cherish the principles that called us out of the world to stand as God’s peculiar people—a holy nation, a royal priesthood. If we steadfastly maintain these principles, if we are true to God and to one another, when He comes in the clouds of heaven, He will take us to Himself. We shall be waiting and watching for Him, and when He appears we shall exclaim, “Lo, this is our God, we have waited for Him, and He will save us.” [Isaiah 25:9.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 18 (1903)

(Psalm 145:1-3): “I will extol Thee, my God, O king, and I will bless Thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless Thee; and I will praise Thy name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.” Our thanksgivings for mercies received ought to be put into speech and ought to be as warm and fully abundant as our prayers are frequent and earnest. Our faith should grasp the promises of God as we ask God for the daily help of which we stand in need. We are nearing the close of this earth’s history. If we do live upon the earth when He shall appear, we want to meet Him with joy and not with grief, saying as we behold His sign in the heavens, “Come, Lord Jesus, and come quickly. ‘Lo this is our God. We have waited for Him, and He will save us.’” [Isaiah 25:9.] We have no time to lose. We are in our educating school here below to learn every day to be prepared to enter the higher, even the heavenly, grade. We should have a personal interest in our own religious experience, and take advantage of every opportunity to learn from the Scriptures—from the Great Teacher—the essential qualifications.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 18 (1903)

Well, then, this was the comfort, and this is that which we are to look for and get ready for, that we can say when He shall come in the clouds of heaven, “Lo, this is our God, we have waited for Him, and He will save us.” [Isaiah 25:9.] Well, who can say that? Certainly those who have made no preparation cannot say it. Those who are waiting for Him, looking for Him, believing that we are in this world as pilgrims and strangers, and that the opportunity that we have now is the opportunity that was bought at an infinite price for us, that we might be preparing for the coming of the Son of man to take us to Himself.18LtMs, Ms 188, 1903, par. 8
The Lord will help us if we will cooperate with God. That is what is wanted of us, to cooperate with Jesus Christ. All of us who will be co-workers with Christ in our own salvation, why, then we are fulfilling the design and purpose of God in giving His life that we might have a preparation to see Christ when He comes, and say, “Lo, this is our God, we have waited for Him, and He will save us.” [Verse 9.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 18 (1903)

Would we be prepared to unite with the saints of God, to live in harmony with the royal family, the children of the heavenly King? What preparation have you made for the judgment? Have you made your peace with God? Are you laboring together with God? Are you seeking to help those around you, those who are ready to die, those in your home, in your neighborhood, that are not keeping the commandments of God? “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.” [Psalm 19:7.] Then let us receive it into our lives, giving it a willing obedience. Let us honor God by obeying its precepts. But remember that profession is worthless without a practice that enters into the daily life. God knows whether we are keeping His law in truth. He knows just what we are doing, just what we are thinking and saying. Are we getting ready to meet the King? When He comes in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory, will you be able to say, “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us”? Jesus says, “Ye are the light of the world. ... Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” [Matthew 5:14, 16.] Let every professing Christian search his heart diligently and put away everything unlike Christ. Let him remember that he has been bought with a price, even the blood of the Son of God. So long as he remembers this, he will be the less liable to indulge in pride and foolishness. Constantly he will endeavor so to live that he can meet the Saviour in peace; and he will not fail to repel every suggestion of the enemy to engage in intemperate, wicked practices. Those who are faithful in this life will be ready to welcome the Saviour when He comes in the clouds of heaven, and to say, “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us.” [Isaiah 25:9.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 19 (1904)

Overcome by the blood, and when Jesus comes, you can say, “Lo, this is our God, we have waited for Him and He will save us.” [Isaiah 25:9.] If you can do that, you have gained everything. Let your heart melt before God. Let the light of heaven come into your heart. Let it be revealed in your words and your acts. The light that has been given me is that we do not realize one-twentieth part, and some hardly one-hundredth part, of the blessings that we might obtain through a living, religious experience; and then we are to impart it to those around us.In Heavenly Places

Truth, precious truth from the Word of God is to be presented, both in public and in families. We have a message that is to prepare a people to stand amid the perils of the last days.... Truth will stand every test that is brought to bear upon it. It cannot be overthrown by the sophistries of Satan. The more it is assailed the more bright and clear it will shine out. As we see indications of the active, earnest efforts of the enemy, shall we not make determined efforts to give the message in clear, decided lines? Shall we not stand forth in the power and Spirit of God, and receive and impart lessons from the Great Teacher? ... “O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth” (Isaiah 25:1)....
