Context of Genesis 5:23
21Enoch lived 65 years, then fathered Methuselah. 22Now Enoch walked with God continually for 300 years after he fathered Methuselah, and he fathered sons and daughters. So all of Enoch’s days were 365 years. 24And Enoch continually walked with God—then he was not there, because God took him. 25Methuselah lived 187 years and fathered Lamech.

To walk with God, is to set God always before us, to act as always under his eye. It is constantly to care, in all things to please God, and in nothing to offend him. It is to be followers of him as dear children. The Holy…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-32The family lines in Genesis do more than record history. They use select details and structure to communicate spiritual truths. Adam's family line through Seth records ten generations to Noah (see 1 Chronicles 1:1–4; Luke 3:36–38). The great flood occurred before another 10 generations from Noah to Abram. The…Read the comment

It is useless to inquire whether and what secondary causes may have contributed to this…Read the comment
