Context of Deuteronomy 29:8
6“When you came to this place, King Sihon of Heshbon and King Og of the Bashan came out against us to battle, but we struck them down. 7We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh. So keep the words of this covenant and do them, so that you may prosper in all that you do. 9“You are standing today, all of you, before Adonai your God—the heads of your tribes, your elders, your officials, all the men of Israel, 10your children, your wives, and the outsider within your camp (from your woodchopper to your water carrier).
